I am Catarina Mello.
I see you, dream-chaser. I've BEEN you, staring at a distant, seemingly unrealistic dream. But here's the thing: I didn’t stumble into this career or get 'lucky.' Nope, not one bit.
Quite the opposite, really — once upon a time, my husband, Rafael, and I packed up our big dreams (and a few suitcases) and moved from Brazil to the United States in our mid-twenties.
He was off to chase down his MBA, and me? I landed what I thought was my "dream job" at Google. But the reality is that my entry-level paycheck and his full-time studying (hello, BIG student loans!) meant we were just scraping by, living that paycheck-to-paycheck life.
It didn't take long for me to realize that I wasn't made to be confined in a windowless office cubicle, trying to climb up the corporate ladder. The corporate world was squeezing the joy out of me, day by day.
I grew restless. I knew that if I wanted to unlock the time and financial freedom I so desperately craved, I’d need to make a change.
Picture this: late nights, cold coffee, weekends filled with watching tutorials and reading every marketing book I could find, and an Instagram account that began as a mere side hustle. My photography skills? Well, let's just say my selfies were more awkward than a first date. Through messy action, endless trial and error, and a big dose of imposter syndrome, I kept pushing. Quitting? Not an option.
It worked. After two years of hustle, balancing a demanding day job with a creator career on the side, I saw my following count on Instagram go from 0 to 200k – so I waved goodbye to my nine-to-five job to dive headfirst into the influencer world.
And you, with that spark in your eyes and that dream in your heart? You can do it too.
It might seem scary to take the leap, but oh, the sweet reward of living a life that fills you with joy every single day.
My first post on Instagram back in 2017 grew into a 7-figure online empire that I get to run from anywhere in the world. I've worked with brands like Hilton, United Airlines, Airbnb, HBO, Japan Tourism Board, Marriott, Amazon, to name a few. And I've been featured on Business Insider, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, and more.
I’ve watched the Northern lights expand across the sky, experienced profound moments on a Tanzanian safari, soaked up luxury in hotels in 60 countries across the globe, and shared it all with an incredible community.
