12 APPS EVERY TRAVELER NEEDS ON THEIR PHONE

When you travel as much as I do, there are certain apps that I just can’t live without.  I’ve tried them all – and I’ve come up with a list of the Top 12 Apps every traveler needs on their phone.  If you’re planning your next trip, be sure to download these apps ahead of time so you already know how to use them as soon as your plane touches down and your next adventure begins.

Whatsapp

I have to put Whatsapp first because it’s really become something I can’t do without.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t want any extra phone charges on my cell phone bill – so this eliminates the problem!  I use Whatsapp to communicate with everyone while I’m traveling – no texts or phone calls.  All you need is WiFi and you’re good to go!

Android | IOS

Google Maps

Google Maps is another must-have travel app.  Sure, it’s good for driving directions – but it does so much more!  You can find restaurants, events, and more in every location you’re visiting.  You can switch your directions from driving to walking when you’re on a walking tour and never get lost again!  Pro Tip: Make sure to save maps so that you have them when you know you won’t have cell phone signals or WiFi.

Android | IOS

TripIt

TripIt is an amazing app for traveling.  All you have to do is forward all of your booking and confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com and it auto-generates an itinerary for your entire trip.  You’ll never miss a booking, and always know where you’re going next.  Keeping all of your plans in one place is so helpful – things don’t get lost and you’re always ready to go!

Android | IOS

Lounge Buddy

Looking for a place to rest between flights?  Lounge Buddy has you covered.  No special tickets or requirements – all you have to do is find a lounge in Lounge Buddy’s network that is available, book it and you’re good to go.  It’s so convenient when you have a long wait between flights and is a simple as a few taps on your phone.

IOS

App in the Air

This is another great trip planning app.  All you have to do is connect your App in the Air account to your email address, and it automatically detects all of your reservations and bookings and then stores them all in one easy to use app.  Make sure to keep your alerts on to get notifications for all of your upcoming bookings!

Android | IOS

XE Currency

If you’re traveling internationally, a currency converter is really helpful.  No more googling every time you need something converted, it’s all in one easy to use app.  The exchange rates are always current, so you always have good control over your finances!

Android | IOS

Hopper

Hopper is a great app for booking your flights and hotels – and saving money!  One of the best features of this app is that it can predict flight costs with up to 95% accuracy up to a year in advance!  That is so helpful when trying to budget your travel for the year.  You can even get notified when a flight or hotel you’ve had your eye on goes on sale!

Android | IOS

Airbnb

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know how much I love Airbnb.  You can find the cutest and most affordable places everywhere you go.  If you travel a lot as I do, it is really refreshing sometimes to stay in a place that is much more like home.  Most have fully equipped kitchens, which saves money on dining.  Get a place with a beautiful view and experience the city your visiting like a native!

Android | IOS

Kayak

I love having options when I’m booking my flights, hotels, and transportation for my trips.  Kayak gives you competing prices from all of the travel sites for all of these things so you can find the one that best fits your budget.  And after you book, it stores your information so you’ll never lose your flight number again!

Android | IOS

WiFi Map

Let’s face it, in this day and age, WiFi is something we just always need.  This app shows you all of the available free WiFi – all over the world, no matter where you are.  Perfect for those of us who are always on the go!

Android | IOS

Accuweather

If you’re planning a trip, you definitely have to know what the weather is going to be like!  Accuweather keeps you up to date, so you’ll know what to pack for your trip and also when you get to your destination, you’ll know if you need to bring an umbrella or wear a jacket when going out for the day.  It’s a must-have app for your travels!

Android | IOS

Trip Advisor

Looking for hotel, restaurant, and destination reviews?  Trip Advisor is the best app to get reviews so that you can decide what the best place to stay and the best sights to see will be for your next trip.  You can also type in your destination and find all of the best sights to see, places to visit and restaurants to try in the area you will be in.  Perfect for planning your entire trip!
